The chairman of Nu Boyana Studios in Bulgaria, David Varod, may be imposed a BGN 50,000 fine over felling of a number of trees on the territory of the Studios in the Boyana district in Sofia.

The information was reported by municipal councillor Atanas Cheresharov from the GERB party, who is also a member of the Committee on Ecology in the municipality.

Mr Cheresharov stated he has photos of a great number of cut trees and added no permission for the felling had been granted.

Sofia Mayor Boyko Borisov is the one who can impose the fine and the law states that new trees must be planted on the place of illegal felling.
