People travelling to Greece for the weekend had overwhelmed the Koulata border checkpoint with the traffic jam reaching four kilometres in length at its peak.

Border authorities said the traffic jam started to form Friday afternoon but they expect that the situation will be back to normal Saturday evening.

Similar traffic jams on the other side of the border are expected Sunday, when the travellers return from their holidays.
