A private clinic in Bulgaria's city of Ruse has decided to train its staff to speak Romanian in order to communicate more easily with patients coming from the country's northern neighbor.

The news was announced Friday by the Ruse newspaper "Utro". The Romanian language course for 30 doctors from the Medica Health Clinic is going to cost BGN 25 000.

The funds for the project will be provided through the EU Human Resource Development Program.

"The Romanians are among us every day, and it would be better if the medical staff could communicate with them directly in cases of emergency", the Director of the Regional Employment Service Elitsa Petkova is quoted as saying.

Many doctors have also stated that the knowledge of Romanian was already becoming obligatory as more and more Romanians come to Ruse to get treatment.
