Bulgaria Municipalities to Get Extra Money for Volunteers' Training

Bulgaria's government is to allocate additional money to municipalities across the country for training of volunteers, who are to help disaster defense.

A total of BGN 481 will be given to be paid for the training, the equipment and the insurance of each person, who wants to help the disasters prevention.

The volunteers will receive minimal salary while on training course and twice its value when providing rescue services.

The whole sums needed will come from the state budget.

A total of five people will get the opportunity to participate in volunteers' programs in the municipalities, whose population does not exceed 5,000 citizens.

The number of the rescuers will increase to 15 in more densely populated areas.

The capital city of Sofia will train 266 volunteers, officials reported.
