Sofia Court Cancels Vehicle Tax Hike

Society | June 1, 2008, Sunday // 00:00

Sofia Administrative Court canceled the 25-percent vehicle tax hike, currently approved by the Municipal Council of the capital city.

The judges abolished the councilors' decision as it was made a week after the legally fixed term expired.

After the regulation's cancellation, the citizens are to pay the minimal legally provided taxes.

The court's ruling is not peremptory and could be appealed before the Supreme Administrative Court.

Sofia Mayor Boyko Borisov said the municipality is not going to return money to those vehicle owners, who have already paid the taxes in accordance with the higher tariff.
