The Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev sent Monday a special letter to congratulate the high school junior Aleksandar Kolarski, who won first prize and a gold medal at the World Olympics for IT in Georgia last week.
The 18-year Kolarski, who is a junior at the Natural Sciences and Mathematics High School in the northwest city of Montana, was declared world's best young IT specialist.
"I am proud to congratulate you as the best young IT specialist, and am happy that you won the prize as I have always believed that the young Bulgarians are those to whom we can attribute the bright perspectives before our country", the letter of the Prime Minister to Kolarski reads.
Stanishev also expresses his hope that the young champion would find the best conditions for his further development in Bulgaria as his achievements gave hope to all that the country could still rely on the brilliant potential of its young people.
In the Georgian capital Tbilisi, Kolarski competed with students from over forty states including the USA, the UK, and Germany. A jury of fifteen professors from the Tbilisi University evaluated the competing projects.
Aleksandar won the first prize with his compilation of 1100 computer science problems, 600 of which are solved in two program languages. His "Electronic Book Pascal CI++" would also bring him a special award from Microsoft.
