The money from the Special Accession Program for Agriculture and Rural Development (SAPARD) that has been placed on hold could be unblocked after the end of the forthcoming audit, announced Dimitar Tadurukov, Executive Director of the State Fund "Agriculture."
The money that has been put on hold according, to measure 1.2 from the SAPPARD program, is 80 million BGN for 49 projects. Tadurukov was adamant that the money would be released after the auditors become convinced of the effectiveness of the State Fund "Agriculture". He also promised to inform Meglena Plugchieva, Depute Prime Minister about the results from the audit.
The audit will be conducted by European experts arriving in Bulgaria on May 26.
The State Fund "Agriculture" and the Finance Ministry will be audited in a period of one week. The auditors are also going to make unannounced visits in some of SAPARD's regional offices.
Tadurukov also voiced his displeasure with Nikolay Vassilev, Minister of State Administration since Vassilev had failed to secure in the time the necessary staff for the Agency.
"Minster Vassilev is a detrimental Minister. He is, to say it directly, a saboteur of the State Fund "Agriculture", Tadurukov stated.
