Bulgaria's socialists celebrated Thursday the International Labour Day with a rally and a concert held in Sofia's Borissova Garden.

As May 1 is also marked as the Day of the leftist press, Prime Minister and leader of the left-wingers in Bulgaria Sergey Stanishev met reporters from the leftist Duma and Zemya newspapers.

The festive rally was led by the head of the socialist municipal councilors' group Zhelyo Boychev as the traditional host of the event and chair of the left-wing city organization Rumen Ovcharov is now sick.

The Bulgarian pop stars Petya Byuklieva and Neli Ranguelova as well as the rock band BTR congratulated the socialists with their special performance.
