The 15-year-old son of Bulgaria's weightlifter Galabin Boevski was taken Friday to Sofia's Pirogov Emergency Institute after he shot himself with a gas pistol while playing Russian roulette, police say.

The teenager's life is out of danger, although he suffered a head wound, doctors reported.

It was initially reported that the boy was shot by schoolmates but the circumstances behind the incident were later revealed.

According to witnesses injured Paul Boevski was the one to bring the pistol at school, authorities said.

"Some boys shot my son while playing, but the real problem is how come children bring weapons in school," the victim's father commented earlier.
