The trial of four men accused of the murder of U.S. journalist Daniel Pearl has been thrown into turmoil. Prosecutors on Thursday filed a petition asking for a new trial judge, while defense lawyers have gone on strike in the closed-door trial that began on Monday. The chief prosecutor in the trial -- staged in a makeshift courtroom inside Karachi's Central Jail -- said he had applied to have the judge replaced. The petition claimed the judge failed to control the accused after he had made threatening gestures at witnesses and the prosecution team.
