Girl, Policemen Injured in Chase of Drunk Driver in Bulgaria

An 18-year-old girl and a police officer suffered injuries in a crash that occurred while the patrol was chasing a car, driven by a drunk man in Bulgaria's town of Smolyan early on Friday.

The hit was caused by the driver, who sat behind the wheel with 1,24 per milles of alcohol in his blood. He veered into the opposite lane and bumped into the police car.

The girl hurt was riding in the vehicle of the violator. She was taken to hospital with bruises on her head.

Nedko Loytov, the policeman, injured in the hit, has also been hospitalized with a hematoma in his head.

Legal procedures have been instituted on the case.
