Icelandic tycoon Thor Bjorgolfsson, former owner of the Bulgarian fixed-line telecom BTC, has been rushed to a hospital in the Bulgarian capital after suffering a bout of an ear infection, local press reported.

The billionaire was reportedly diagnosed with aerootit, a middle ear disease, which is caused by rapid changes in the pressure during flights or mountain climbing, 24 Hours daily reported.

According to the article Bjorgolfsson, who now owns Actavis pharmaceutical plant in Bulgaria, arrived at the Military Medical Academy in the company of bodyguards early on Friday. Following a check, he was prescribed medication and released.

Thor Bjorgolfsson will have to prolong his stay in Bulgaria since his condition prevents him from flying, the report says.
