Healthcare trade unions and organisations in Bulgaria discuss Thursday an eventual new round of protests over insufficient financing of health services.

Several rallies have been staged by health-care workers since the beginning of the year over the health budget, which was set at BGN 1,6 B, while doctors demand BGN 2,7 B.

Doctors also protest against the decision of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to limit the hospitals' budgets, which will not depend on the number of patients any more.

Protesters claim that the new measures would lead to the closing of 150 regional hospitals.
