The first Europe Direct information center is to be open Thursday by Bulgaria's EU Commissioner Meglena Kuneva in the country's second largest Plovdiv.
A total of eleven Europe Direct centers will be open in the larger cities throughout Bulgaria, where Bulgarians will be able to receive information about EU programs, policies and their rights.
The information from Europe Direct is also going to be available online, and through a free telephone line. The regional centers are going to organize trainings about how to prepare projects for EU funding.
The Plovdiv center is located in the Old Town. Its launching costs EUR 49 000, half of which are provided by the European Commission, and the other half was paid by the Plovdiv Municipality.
The Europe Direct office in Plovdiv will have three employees who will be supported by student interns.
