About 64 percent of the Bulgarians are not satisfied with the medical care provided by the hospitals in the country, the results of a national survey of Citizens for Healthcare Reform show.

Nearly 53,000 Bulgarians took part in the study, chair of the patients' organisation, Maria Ilieva, said.

Despite the predominant negative opinion about the health care system, the majority of the patients in the country are satisfied with the dentist care provided, the study shows.

41 percent say hospitals should not be privatised, while 48 percent think that the healthcare fund must be demonopolized.

The results of the study will be presented to a work group that is to propose health reforms to the Cabinet, officials said.
