EU commissioner for consumer protection Meglena Kuneva inaugurated in Sofia an unconventional exhibition as part of the initiatives that marked the European Consumer Day, March 15.
The exhibition, located along the bridge near the National Palace of Culture, presents in a thought-provoking way dangerous goods detected and withdrewn from the market in 2007, so that "real-life" shoppers can enjoy and learn from the messages the campaign conveys.
The citizens and visitors of Sofia also had the opportunity to see the European projects that took part in the competition for the best consumer campaign of the year.
All member states, Norway and Iceland were invited to hold national contests and submit the winners to the Commission for the European "grand final".
The European winners were chosen by an independent panel, on the basis of their high level of originality, and the pertinence and effectiveness of their campaigns.
The first prize went to the Finnish Consumer Agency for "Galactor and the Code-breakers", whose campaign aims to educate young adults about consumer rights and responsibilities through a modern web-game.
