The payments for Bulgaria under the SAPARD Programme, Measure 2 - improving the processing and marketing of agricultural and fish products, will stay frozen at least until May 15. This was announced by EC representative from DG Agriculture, Kai Mortensen in the Bulgarian capital Sofia.

The middle of May is the deadline for the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) to release a final report over frauds related to the EU funds, Mortensen said during a meeting of the Monitoring Commission of the programme in Sofia.

The subsidies for Bulgarian projects under SAPARD until now amount BGN 637,1 M, officials informed.

About BGN 200M is the money frozen by the EC under SAPARD, Bulgaria's Minister of Finance Plamen Oresharski said on Friday.

So far the EC has frozen the Bulgaria's funding under the two other pre-accession programs PHARE and ISPA, and over EUR 217 M under the Regional Development Program over alleged frauds.
