Bulgaria and Slovenia called upon the Serbian authorities not to put off the European integration of the country. The urge was voiced on Thursday after the meeting of Bulgaria's PM Stanishev with the Slovenian PM Jansa in Slovenia's capital Ljubljana.
"I hope the Serbian government will not prepare its people for going back to the past but rather for advancing into the future", the Bulgarian PM said. His Slovenian counterpart announced that his country was going to recognize Kosovo.
Apart from the Kosovo situation, the two PMs also discussed current EU issues, including the European Commission's interim report for Bulgaria which criticized it for failing in the fight against corruption. Slovenia is currently heading the rotating EU Presidency.
Meanwhile, the Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic threatened Slovenia with economic measures if it recognized independent Kosovo.
