Bulgaria's National Bank is to emit Thursday a new coin commemorating the 130th anniversary since Bulgaria's liberation from the Ottoman Empire after the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-8.
The coin will be issued in 10,000 copies with a nominal value of BGN 10 and will be sold for BGN 44.
The bank logo is pictured on the front side of the coin. The backside features the figures of a Russian warrior and a Bulgarian volunteer from the monument on Mount Shipka where the fiercest battles of the Russo-Turkish War took place.
The backside of the coin also has the words "130 Years since Liberation", and "Eternal Glory to the Heroes". Thus, the coin honors the memory of those who died in Bulgaria's Liberation War.
The coin was presented by Minister of Culture Stefan Danailov, Bulgarian National Bank Manager Ivan Iskrov, and Georgi Markov, historian and member of the national committee for organizing the celebrations of the 130th anniversary since Bulgaria's liberation.
