Sofia's waltz lovers gathered on February 16 for a night of glamour in a local rendition of Vienna's Opera ball in the Sheraton Hotel to donate money from tickets to the children from Mogilino village orphanage.
The eight edition of the charity event gathered 340 representatives from the business and political establishment.
Mogilino children became characters in the haunting BBC documentary that caused huge uproar over the conditions in which disabled youngsters grow up in the state institutes in Bulgaria.
The rest of the money, gathered at the event, will be divided between the National Theatre and Film Arts Academy, the National Arts Academy and the international opera singing competition "Boris Hristov".
The original Vienna Ball was held on Thursday evening in Austria's capital. World famous tenor Jose Carreras sang at the official opening ceremony.
Sofia has hosted the event every year since 1996.
