Bulgaria's PM Sergey Stanishev, who is on an official visit to Moldova, declared the government's policy concerning the Bulgarians abroad will be better financed.

Stanishev promised the Bulgarian community in the Moldavian town of Taraklia that the efforts for adopting a new strategy for support of the diaspora would continue, as support could not be based on sheer enthusiasm.

The Bulgarian community complained that more than three years are needed to get a Bulgarian passport and the PM assured them the problem would soon be solved.

"You are not forgotten. You are not alone," he told the Bulgarians.

Stanishev started his three-day visit to Moldova on Thursday at the invitation of PM Vasile Tarlev. It is the first visit of a Bulgarian Prime Minister in Moldova after it declared independence in 1990.

According to the data of the Foreign Ministry, more than 90,000 ethnic Bulgarians live in the country, located between Romania and Ukraine.
