Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivailo Kalfin participates at the first joint meeting of foreign ministers from the European Union and the Black Sea Region states in Kiev, Ukraine.
The main themes of the meeting are transport, energy, and communication infrastructure development.
The forum is also expected to launch the so called "Black Sea Synergy" - a new initiative for regional cooperation with the participation of the EU which seeks to enhance as much as possible the cooperation among the individual countries in light of the increased information, investment, and transport exchanges.
The foreign ministers are also expected to the dialogue among the countries exporting energy resources, the transit countries, and the consumer states in order to provide for fair access to energy resources and markets.
"Black Sea Synergy" envisages the setting up of a union for improving the coordination between regional states' policies and the policy of the EU as well as wide-ranging programs such as the development of key international transport corridors, better coordination of environment measures, and of human rights protection.
