The National Parents Association "Anti-Drugs" (NORA) tabled a protest petition to the European Parliament expressing its deep resentment with the recently pronounced sentence of the drug boss Dimitar Zhelyazkov, aka Mityo Ochite.

This was announced by Veselina Bojilova, chair of the "Mothers against Drugs" organization before the Bulgarian private TV channel Nova TV.

The declaration was submitted to the EP through Dushana Zdravkova who is a member of the EP Petitions Committee and a MEP from GERB, Sofia Mayor Boyko Borisov's party. It declaration was tabled a week ago to the chair of Bulgarian Parliament, the chief prosecutor's office, and the justice minister.

The parents' declaration describes Zhelyazkov's sentence as unacceptable and inadequate, and expresses deep disapproval of it.

The drug boss Dimitar Zhelyazkov, aka Ochite (The Eyes) was recently sentenced to 4,5 years of imprisonment and a property confiscation worth USD 18 000 after he and 12 other members of his gang pleaded guilty and stroke a deal with the prosecution.

Zhelyazkov and his associates were convicted of organizing an armed group, drug dealing and drug trafficking.
