Serbia's president Boris Tadic declared Belgrade would never recognize eventual declaration of independence of the Kosovo province.

"I will never recognize an independent Kosovo and will do everything possible to preserve Serbia," Tadic said during a visit to the province, as cited by Itar Tass.

The president delivered his speech before Serbians from the enclave village of Chernika.

Earlier this week, Tadic announced that Serbia is to launch trials against every EU member state that recognizes Kosovo's independence.

The news came a week after the former guerrilla leader and current PM of the province Hashim Thaci said Kosovo's independence would be declared within days.
