Bulgaria must take a total of 291 measures in 2008 to meet the requirements of the European Union as its member state, the country's EU affairs minister Gergana Grancharova announced on Thursday.
Among the top priorities are the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty, the debate for the revision of the European public finances, and the establishment of a national policy for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, Grancharova explained.
"The key word in the implementation of the work plan of the Ministry is coordination," the Grancharova said, adding that meeting all the EU requirements is an absolutely realistic variant.
The minister pointed out Bulgaria has already prepared for the coming monitoring by the European Commission over the Judiciary chapter of the membership agreement.
The EC report, which will be issued in the end of January is referred by experts as predominantly technical but it will still affect the final monitoring report scheduled for June.
