A total of three lives were claimed in 16 heavy car crashes reported overnight across Bulgaria, according to the data of the country's Interior Ministry.

Other 15 people were injured in the hits, as several of them are still in critical condition.

In the capital city of Sofia, the number of traffic accidents during the same period was 166, which left eight passengers injured.

Authorities warn that many of the roads across the country are frozen and thick fog blankets some regions and called on the drivers to be extremely careful when sitting behind the wheel.
