In a repeat of last week's massive protest in Sofia, milk producers from across Bulgaria hit the streets on Wednesday.

The key demand of the protestors is the introduction of a BGN 0,20 per litre subsidy for the milk placed on the market and a one-off financial aid of BGN 1000 per cow to cover their rising costs.

According to the farmers unless the money is allotted immediately, billions of levs will be needed to revive the sector in a year.

Milk producers put the losses they suffer at BGN 1000 per day.

The biggest rallies took place in the towns of Plovdiv, Vratsa, VelikoTarnovo, Blagoevgrad, Lovech and Stara Zagora.

Meanwhile the one-hour strike of doctors from across Bulgaria entered into its third day, demanding for a bigger budget for health services. The budget in the framework agreement of NHIF has been set at BGN 1,6 B.

The striking doctors have repeatedly assured that emergency help will be provided for all patients who need it.
