The mayor of Bulgaria's coastal town of Varna Kiril Yoradnov said Tuesday the owners of the banks are to blame for the collapse of the visor over their two entries, which killed a young woman on January 2.

The dead body of the 22-year-old victim has been pulled from beneath the debris of the visor at the offices of First Investment Bank, Raiffeisen Bank and a neighbouring shop two days later when workers started to clear the site.

The young woman, called Gergana, was born in the town of Burgas, but was studying at a university in Varna. On the fatal day she went shopping, never to return.

The body was first identified by her boyfriend and then by the parents.

Unconfirmed reports say that the collapse was caught on CCTV by the cameras at one of the banks. The last shot on the footage is said to show a girl, dressed in white.

The investigation into the case continues.
