EU Commission report on the progress that Bulgaria and Romania have made in implementing justice reforms is due this month but the date of its publication would be decided at mid January, sources from the EU Commission told EUexpands.
The report is mid-term one and no conclusions of the reform process in the countries are going to be delivered, the article comments, adding that a decision on the eventual triggering of the so-called "safeguard clause" will be contained in the report due in June 2008.
"Nevertheless, for the Romanian case, the language is going to be quiet tough now in January since there has been no improvement in the fight against corruption," sources from the EU Commission told EUexpands.
The report may underline even a regress in the justice system reform as well as in the field of combating petty and high level corruption.
Bulgaria, which the last year report said to have performed less impressively, is believed to escape punishment in the future if it continues efforts with diligence, EUexpands claim.
