The fifth annual Bulgarian Christmas charity campaign has collected BGN 1,6 M by Christmas Day, Bulgarian state television BNT said on Tuesday.
The figure is expected to grow even more with a charity concert, during which stars will turn into phone receptionists to accept donations, and fireworks show scheduled in the Ivan Vazov National Theatre on Christmas Day, to be shown live on BNT.
More than 100 000 people have bought stickers for their cars that feature the campaign's teddy bear logo, while another 20 000 bought Christmas cards sold by the charity.
The funds are being collected for 37 children in need of urgent treatment and 14 children hospital wards that need better medical equipment.
