Irishman Found on Train Tracks in Bulgaria

An Irish national was found lying on train tracks in a railway tunnel in Plovdiv region, central Bulgaria, late on Christmas Eve, authorities said on Tuesday.

The man, who is aged 59, but whose identity was not disclosed, received first aid from the train drivers who noticed him on the track and was later taken to hospital in Plovdiv.

His life remains in danger for now, the Interior Ministry said.

The man did not appear to have been the victim of violence or robbery, the ministry statement added.
