Bulgaria's EU Commissioner Meglena Kuneva presented Friday her book, called "Europe of the Citizens", which is dedicated to the first year of the country's membership in the EU.
The event took place in the Central Military Club in Sofia and gathered political figures, ambassadors and many other guests.
The book describes the integration of Bulgaria to the EU in the view of a person, who is fully engaged with the issue and reveals the myths and the realities concerning the country's accession to the bloc.
The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee with the National Assembly Solomon Passi, the manager of Colibri publishing house Raymond Wagenstein and the Associate Professor in Culture Studies at Sofia University Rayna Gavrilova have presented the edition.
"We could not see the changes if they do not happed inside of us. That is why I have written this book," Commissioner Kuneva explained.
"A Chinese proverb reads: they can open the door in front of you but cannot make you come in. We need to be consistent in order to enter the EU home," she added.
The EC representative in Bulgaria in the period 2001-2005 Dimitris Kurkulas has sent a greeting to Commissioner Kuneva to congratulate her on the efforts she put in the pre-accession negotiations.
"You, Commissioner Kuneva, made it possible for Bulgaria to take the place it deserves," the message read.
