The condition of the man, who suffered heavy injuries in the chain crash near Bulgaria's town of Simitli, was stabilized after he has undergone a surgery, doctors reported Thursday.

The bus driver, who is claimed to have caused the hellish accident, was removed to the intensive care ward in a hospital in the town of Blagoevgrad.

He suffered serious head injuries and had his elbow broken but has not undergone a surgery.

Three passengers were killed and another 14 injured in a chain crash between the bus, a minibus and several cars in Southwestern Bulgarian town late on Tuesday.

Two of the victims died on spot and the third one passed away on his way to a local hospital.

The life of another passenger involved in the hellish crash is still in danger.

Among the casualties is a one-year old child, whose father was killed in the crash. His mother suffered brain concussion.

The accident occurred after the bus, which was travelling from the capital city of Sofia to Sandanski, attempted a rash overtake only to bump into three cars and a minibus before toppling over.
