Three passengers were killed and another 14 injured in a chain crash between a bus, a minibus and several cars near Bulgaria's town of Simitli late on Tuesday.

Two of the victims died on spot and the third one passed away on his way to a local hospital.

Immediate reports claim the accident occurred after the bus, which was traveling from the capital city of Sofia to Sandanski, tried to overcome another vehicle on the road, hit against the cars and the minibus and toppled over.

A total of four people, involved in the hellish crash, have been rushed to a hospital in the town of Blagoevgrad. Their lives are out of danger, doctors said.

Police patrols, emergency crews and fire brigades have immediately arrived on the spot.

The traffic on the international road was ceased in both directions and is now converted through the village of Zheleznitsa.
