Bulgarians are the people within the European Union most discontent of their living standard, according to the results of a new social study.
Bulgarians are unsatisfied of their lives and often worry about being able to cope with their problems at old age, the research project of the European Commission and Euroscience Foundation also shows.
Bulgarians love money more than the other Europeans as the living standard is the lowest in the EU, the local project coordinator Lilia Dimova told reporters.
About 36% of Bulgarians say being rich is important, while having lots of money is the aim of only about 10% of the French and 19% of the Swiss.
According to the study, 85% of the people in Bulgaria say to have close friends but they still feel to be the most dejected people compared to other EU member states.
The happiest Europeans are said to be the Swiss and the Danish.
Despite the fact that Bulgarians are the bottom of the happiness chart, 60% say to feel optimistic about the future, while 72% have positive opinion about themselves.
