The capital's busiest thoroughfare Tsarigradsko Shosse, which links Sofia downtown to the residential districts in the southeast of the city, was blocked since the earliest hours on Friday by long lines of cars.
In the morning rush a drive from the residential district of Mladost to one of the biggest junctures in the city - Eagles Bridge takes more than one hour.
The public transport buses are behind their schedule, forcing people to wait for half an hour at the stops or walk on foot to reach their working places.
As a part of Sofia ring road is closed for repairs, most of the traffic goes through the city center paralyzing the capital, which continuously suffers heavy traffic jams.
