Bulgarians living in the North-eastern and South-eastern part of the country will wake up Wednesday morning in a snowy fairytale, the mercury falling below zero.

The snowfall, accompanied by high north-western winds, comes on the heels of scattered rain showers that swept throughout Bulgaria at the beginning of the week.

The snow cover is expected to reach fifteen centimetres by Thursday morning.

Dark clouds will shroud the sky along the Black Sea coast, bringing in strong northern rains.

This week's lows are expected to reach 3C below zero on Thursday,. Highs are set at 6C.

The first significant snowfalls in the middle of November caused transport problems for motorists across Bulgaria, a sad reminder that just like any other year, authorities have been "surprised" by the weather.
