A passenger train and a freight train collided Friday in the south side of Chicago, Illinois injuring dozens of people, media reports said.
About 70 people were sent to hospital after a passenger train carrying 187 passengers slammed into the tail end of a stopped freight train.
Five workers of the US rail company Amtrak are in critical condition, Chicago Fire Department reported.
The Chicago police said there was no indication of terrorism. The authorities hope a recording of an Amtrak camera that captured the crash would provide more answers to what caused the accident.
The US National Transportation Safety Board has sent investigators to the scene.
