Bulgaria's town of Zlatograd declared a three-day mourning in memory of two of the miners, who died in a mine accident on Thursday.

The tragedy that took place in Dzhurkovo mine near the southern town of Laki, killed a total of three workers and injured two other.

Vladimir Batkadzhov and Ivan Kehayov, both born in Zlatograd, are to be buried on Friday.

The reason for the accident was the lack of oxygen, said Atanas Marinski, executive director of the company that manages the mine.

Experts from Labour Inspectorate however claim that is only one of the versions it is worked on and promise to find out what the real reason was.

Doctors, who take care of the injured workers, said gas poisoning is the case.

The night shift manager told reporters that no gas was detected before the workers went down the pit.
