Bulgaria's grain producers are to set up road blocks on Thursday, protesting against the lack of state subsidies for grain production.

Heavy tractors will crawl at noon on the road between northern town of Pleven and capital Sofia and traffic will be greatly disturbed for the hours of protest.

The protesters call for BGN 147 M grain subsidy to be included in the 2008 budget that passed at first reading last week.

According to farmers, the agriculture policy of the government dooms them to bankruptcy.
