The legendary US photographer Lawrence Schiller is to show for the first time ever all the pictures of Marilyn Monroe he included in an exhibition to be opened on November 30 in Sofia.

The 70-piece photo session was made while the actress was swimming in a pool.

"She jumped in to the water with a swimming suit and a few minutes later appeared without it," Schiller said at a press conference in Sofia on Monday.

"Marilyn, you are famous and not it is time to me famous too, I have told her later in the bathing box," the photographer added.

"I did not suspected I would take pictures at her funeral just two months later," Schiller explained.

The unique exhibition, part of which were on display in New York, Beijing and Munich, is to be opened by the US Ambassador to Bulgaria John Beyrle.

Lawrence Schiller was born in 1936 in Brooklyn, and grew up outside of San Diego, California. After graduating from Pepperdine College, he went to work for Life Magazine and the Saturday Evening Post as a photojournalist.

He published his first book, "LSD", in 1966. Since then he has published eleven books, including W. Eugene Smith's "Minamata" and "Norman Mailer's Marilyn".

Schiller collaborated with Albert Goldman on "Ladies and Gentleman, Lenny Bruce" and with Norman Mailer on "The Executioner's Song".

He had also directed seven motion pictures and miniseries for television as "The Executioner's Song" and "Peter the Great" won five Emmys awards.

Among Schiller's greatest photos are those of the US President John Kennedy's killer and the weapon the crime was committed with.

The photographer worked for the best newspaper and magazines in France, UK and Germany.

Mr. Schiller is now a consultant to NBC news.
