At least eight people were killed in Brazil late Sunday after a section of stands at a football stadium collapsed while fans were celebrating minutes after the end of the game.
More than 60,000 were in Fonte Nova stadium in the coastal city of Salvador, when a wide hole opened in the concrete floor of a section of the highest bleachers, local authorities report.
Some of the victims fell 40 metres.
The fans were jumping up and down celebrating the home team's promotion into the second division after a 0-0 draw with Vila Nova when the stand gave way.
Fonte Nova stadium was built in 1951 and is claimed to be one of the most dangerous stadiums in Brazil.
The stadium is to be closed from Monday for an undetermined amount of time while authorities investigate the cause of the accident.
