A 51-year-old man suffered heavy injuries after he was hit by a passenger train on the railroad between the stations of Vratsa and Ruska Byala in Bulgaria late on Friday.

According to evidence given by the engine-driver the victim was walking on the rails and did not manage to move aside in time after he heard the train was coming.

The condition of the man is still critical, doctors said.

That was the second time when a person has been hit by a train moving on the same line within two days, police authorities reported.

On Thursday, another man, aged 36, died on spot after he was run over by a machine near Vratsa station.
