Bulgarian Killed in Freak Kite Surfing Accident in Malta

A 29-year-old Bulgarian who lives in Malta has died after a weird kite surfing accident Sunday afternoon, the Times of Malta newspaper reported, citing the police.

The Bulgarian was at Armier preparing to take off when his kite was blown away by a sudden gust of wind. He first ended up against a tree and then a roof made of sheet metal.

The man, whose name was not disclosed, was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance and was found to be in critical condition. He died a few hours later.

Police investigations are under way.
