Petar Stoychev, Bulgaria's best swimmer and the fastest man to swim across the English Channel, said "I do" to his beloved, the reporter Asya Anastasova in the capital city of Sofia on Sunday.

Excitement from the new life and new dreams ahead could be seen in the eyes of all 150 guests, who attended the wedding ceremony, held in the Military Club in the capital city.

The President of the football team Levski Todor Batkov and his spouse Zdravka have been invited for best man and sponsour at the wedding.

The bride is the first Bulgarian competitor, who took part in synchronized swimming Olympic games. She now works as a reporter in Standard newspaper.

The sportsman managed to cross the 40 kilometres separating England from France in under seven hours.

The groom managed to cross the straits of Dover in six hours, 57 minutes and 50 seconds, setting a new English Channel record.

The Bulgarian has won the Open Water World Championships seven times and has long targeted the record, never succeeding until now.
