Eco-activist protested Thursday in Sofia against the ongoing construction works in Bulgaria's natural park Rila Mountain by staging an improvised street theatre play.

"Encroachment upon Rila is encroachment upon life, because the aggressive construction there disturbs the biodiversity and the waters that quench the thirst of a huge part of the Bulgarian population," said Vanya Boneva, one of the organizers of the protest said for the media.

The rally took place in front of the Ministry of Environment and Waters on the Slaveykov square in downtown Sofia.

The protestors played a sketch, which represented an incident some days ago, when bullies from the town of Panichishte beat black and blue protestors at a silent rally, while the police stood idle.

Next, the eco-activists staged a play, in act one of which they played a traditional children's game in Bulgaria, where the aim is to jump over another person, who has bended down. The game "called jump over the jade" represented the easy way one can jump over the institutions, to simply ignore their authority, and reach his or her goals.

In act two the environmentalists circled a tree and a girl standing next to it with a "conscience and care" inscription on her shirt.
