8 Turkish Troops Missing after Deadly Raid

Eight Turkish troops are still missing after an attack by Kurdish rebels on Sunday that left 12 troops dead, BBC reported, citing the Turkish military.

The statement came as a news agency believed to be linked to the rebels named seven of the missing troops.

Protests across Turkey have put more pressure on the government to act.

Parliament last week approved raids into Iraq but Turkey's foreign minister says it will pursue political solutions before sending in troops.

The US has urged Turkey not to take military action inside Iraq but Ankara in return has called on Washington to take "swift steps" against the rebels of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

The group has been blamed for recent attacks that have left more than 40 Turkish soldiers and civilians dead.
