A tram car toppled over in the Sofia district of Buckstone on Monday afternoon near the 6th Police District, Darik News reported.

Four people were injured in the accident, but their condition is not critical.

The tram No 5 was travelling from the Ovcha Kupel bus station to Buckstone when it skidded off the tracks and overturned.

The tram driver was taken to hospital because he fainted from the shock when the accident occurred.

According to preliminary information from the Sofia Electric Transport company the reason for the accident is the incorrect handling of the motor car of another tram by the tram driver.

The company has already sent emergency units to remove the overturned train and free the way.

The accident blocked the Sofia Tzar Boris III Boulevard and the traffic will be blocked in the next hour and a half at least.
