A total of five people were killed in 24 heavy car crashes overnight in Bulgaria, according to official data.

Another 33 passengers were injured in the accidents as the lives of four of them are still in danger.

In capital Sofia, the number of traffic accidents during the same period was 156, including nine major car accidents that left one dead and nine injured.
