KOSTOV REPLACED AS UDF CHAIRMAN BY E. MIHAILOVA

The outgoing PM Ivan Kostov resigned during the session of the National Executive Council of UDF in the National palace of Culture.

Ekaterina Mihailova, outgoing chairman of the UDF parliamentary group, will succeed Kostov as leader of UDF.

Ivan Kostov keeps his chair as member of National Executive Council.

Plamen Ivanov, will be the chief secretary.

The outgoing Foreign Minister Nadejda Mihailova, who refused to occupy the position of Kostov, will be the chairman of the UDF parliamentary group.

Kostov served as UDF chairman since 1995, after former chairman and PM Philip Dimitrov lost the elections. Kostov was also elected Prime Minister of the country in 1997 and it is widely expected will resign beginning of July 2001 after the new Bulgarian parliament will be set up.

Secretary general of the United Christian Democratic Center 1992-96. Chair of the United Christian Democratic Center since March 1996. Member of the National Coordination Council of UDF since 1992. Deputy chair of UDF since Feb. 1997. MP (elected in Pazardjik) in the 36th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of SDS). Deputy chair of the Parliamentary Group of UDF in the 36th National Assembly. MP (elected in Pazardjik) in the 37th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of UDF). Deputy chair of the Parliamentary Group of UDF in the 37th National Assembly. Deputy chair of the Committee on Human Rights and Religion in the 37th National Assembly. MP (elected in Pazardjik) in the 37th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of UDF). Chair of the Parliamentary Group of UDF in the 38th National Assembly.
